The Imaginary Invalid At Wilsonville High SchoolWVHS’s The Imaginary Invalid By Moliere Is Sure To Delight Audiences

Wilsonville High School Theatre Arts Department is proud to present Moliere’s classic farce, The Imaginary Invalid. Monsieur Ardin, a fearful but miserly hypochondriac, played by senior Casey Young, divides his time between summoning the doctor to care for his ills and trying not to settle the resultant bills. He resolves to marry his daughter, Angélique, played by senior Samantha Katz, to a medical student, hoping to acquire unlimited access to gratis consultation. The chosen fiancé is an unattractive dolt named Thomas, played by sophomore Chance Kirk, who would never interest Angélique, even if she were not already in love with clever, handsome Cléante, played by junior Cormac Lister, who poses as her music instructor.

Ardin’s wife Beline, played by senior Mikaela Ochocki, plans to send Angélique to a convent, removing her from the line inheritance. At the urging of the sensible servant Toinette, played by senior Averyl Hartje, he feigns death to test his wife’s affection only to discover her contempt. Again with the help of Toinette, Beralde (Ardin’s sensible brother played by senior Katie Walter) tries to persuade Ardin to liberate himself from the twin tyrannies of his ailing body and his grasping physicians. The play closes with musical pomp and pidgin Latin.

This show is recommended for ages 12 and up. There are six performances in the Wilsonville Auditorium and they are all evening shows. The show begins at 7 pm on February 27, 28, 29 and March 5, 6, 7. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for students and children. Tickets may be pre-purchased here.
